World Creole Music Festival - Dominica
I attended the above mentioned festival in October this year and I had a fabulous time. However, I have two complaints:
1. I could not believe that there was only one entrance (which was also the exit) to the park. People almost got crushed trying enter the park. It got so bad that the guy eventually decided to open the gate fully and just allowed everyone to get in more easily.
On leaving the park there was no one to control the flow of people out of the park. Vehicles were parked very close to the exit and when people left the park they were forced down a narrow part of the road. It is a miracle no one got hurt.
The second complaint is with regards to the stadium. In order to to enter the main arena people were all using one set of stairs which were very narrow. It got to the point where dozens of people were trying to get up these steps whilst dozens were trying to go down. The resulting effect was that there was a huge crush on the stairs where the two crowds met. It was very frightening.
One security guard upon seeing this had to force his way in and then was able to stop people going down the stairs sending them to an opposite set of stairs whilst using the current one for the flow of traffic into the arena.
Why did not security thought of that before? Are they waiting for someone to die in a crush before they decide to make these arrangements.
I would suggest in future that the organisers of the show in the park make provisions for more than one entrance and then completely separate exit routes which control the flow of traffic more effectively.

i agree with you on this. It was very frightening trying to exit the park. There was an exit and entrance routes it just that people fail to use it. As rightly said security should be there to control the flow.
